The Access Center is a point of entry to Seven
Counties Services and the entire local behavioral health service
system in the region. Access services include telephone screenings,
risk assessment, needs assessment, referral to community resources
and/or scheduling intake appointments for behavioral health services
at the Seven Counties program that can best serve the client. Please
see each of our program descriptions for any specific referral information/eligibility
required by a program.
Fee: No cost to caller. The cost of the Access Centers
services is underwritten by Seven Counties Services.

options for persons with acute emotional problems that require immediate
attention, and for persons seeking information and referral.

The Crisis and Information Center of Seven Counties
Services offers confidential 24-hour, 7-day- a-week telephone crisis
services for issues involving mental health, suicide, alcohol and
drug use/abuse, and mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.
Information and referral services include assistance in linking
callers with resources such as temporary housing, financial help,
medical care, counseling, victim assistance, domestic violence resources,
suicide prevention and resources for senior citizens. The center
also is the main point of contact for a mental health response to
community emergencies or disasters and provides after-hours coverage
for the states abuse telephone line.
Specially trained crisis counselors help callers
define problems and feelings and explore possible solutions. Seven
Counties Crisis and Information Center is certified by the
American Association of Suicidology.
The Crisis and Information Center maintains a
database of more than 3,000 local resources the most comprehensive
in the region to help with information and referral calls.
A web-based version of the database can be accessed through the
Seven Counties Services homepage by clicking on Community Resources.
One of the busiest centers of its kind in the nation, the center
responds to an average of 100,000 calls annually.
Fee: No cost to callers. Services are underwritten by the
Ky. Dept. of Mental Health/Mental Retardation Services, Louisville
Metro Government, the Ky. Department for Community Based Services,
and Metro United Way, and Seven Counties Services.
Eligibility: Any resident of Kentuckys Bullitt, Henry,
Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer or Trimble counties, or of Clark,
Floyd and Harrison counties in Indiana.
Referral: No restrictions.

Metro United
Way 2-1-1 telephone information and referral services are provided
24 hours a day, 7 days a week through a partnership with the Crisis
and Information Center of Seven Counties Services. 2-1-1 is an easy
to remember number that connects people to health and human services.
Help is available for many needs, including housing, employment,
legal aid counseling and more*.
Fee: No cost to caller. Costs of service are underwritten
by Metro United Way.
Eligibility: Residents of Kentucky’s Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson,
Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble, Nelson and Carroll counties, or
in Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties in Indiana.
Referral: No restrictions.

Center of Seven Counties Services, WAVE TV, Verizon Wireless and
Louisville Metro Government, the Its Your Life
Youth Helpline provides confidential 24-hour, 7-day-a-week telephone
counseling, information and referral to community resources for
local teenagers and adults. The Youth Helpline offers an opportunity
for teens to get answers to their questions or just to talk with
someone.
Fee: No cost to caller. Louisville Metro Government, Verizon
Wireless and WAVE-TV underwrite services.
Eligibility: Youth and adults in Louisville metropolitan
area.
Referral: No restrictions.

Volunteer phone counselors receive intensive training
in crisis intervention, suicide counseling, and knowledge of community
resources. Volunteers, who must be 21 or older, gree to provide
a minimum of 100 hours of service over a six-month period. Opportunities
to volunteer are available 24/7. Call for more information, application

Psychiatry Services (EPS)

EPS provides around
the clock emergency psychiatric evaluations to adults. Staff at
EPS assess clients' needs and refer them to Wellspring Crisis Stabilization
Unit, Jefferson Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center (JADAC), University
Hospital psychiatric units, Central State Hospital or other hospitals
for admission. EPS staff also links clients with outpatient services
at Seven Counties or other community providers.
Fees: A sliding fee scale based on income. We accept Medicaid,
Medicare and many forms of health insurance. This program is a collaborative
effort of the Ky. Dept. for Mental Health and Mental Retardation
Services, Seven Counties Services, the University of Louisville
Hospital, and U of Ls Dept. of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Eligibility: Adults in acute psychiatric or emotional distress.
Referrals: Self-referrals (walk-ins) accepted, as well as
referrals from other healthcare and human service providers, law
enforcement and the courts, and the general community.

ACT offers face-to-face crisis intervention by
appointment, usually within 48 hours. Staff offer brief solution-focused
therapy. Clients may be referred to services within SCS or to appropriate
community resources.
Fee: Accepts Medicaid, Medicare and many forms of health
insurance and third-party payers. Sliding fee scale based on income.
Eligibility: adults in urgent psychiatric or emotional distress
Referral: Accepts self-referral and referrals from other

Child Psychiatric Services
24-hour, 7-day-a-week screening, assessment,
brief intervention and referral for children in acute psychiatric
or emotional distress.
Childrens
Crisis Stabilization Program
The regions only temporary short-term, 24-hour alternative
to hospitalization for children age 5-16.
Rural
Crisis Response Program for Children and Adolescents
For children/adolescents who require intervention beyond outpatient
services but do not need longer term hospitalization.
