Lyndon Area Program Celebrates
15 Years of Making Dreams Come True
Louisville, KY, 05/05/2007 -LaGrange
Networks, a community-based day program for individuals with intellectual
disabilities, will celebrate its 15th Anniversary with an Open House
on Friday, July 6, 2007 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the programs location
at 8040 New LaGrange Road in Louisville. LaGrange Networks is a
program of the Developmental Services Division of Seven Counties
Services, Inc. The program creates small group and individual activities
for its clients that provide new learning opportunities in a variety
of daily living and social skills and new experiences through community
integration.
On any given day, you may find clients
cooking in the kitchen, writing newsletter on the computer, exercising
in the main room or holding a small group discussion on money skills
and personal budgeting. Over the years, the network's clients have
been involved in many art shows. When not at the network center,
staff and clients are often making forays into the community - visiting
libraries, pet stores, parks, malls, and ballgames. The program,
which began in 1992 with nine clients, now serves eighteen clients
with a staff of five.
"We are so excited to celebrate
this important milestone of service to these individuals in our
community," says Ruth Reed, LaGrange Networks' director. "We
have invited our neighbors in Lyndon and others throughout our community
who provide care and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities
to join us. Our staff have worked hard over the past fifteen years
to help make dreams come true for our clients. It doesn't always
happen fast, but it does happen." Reed has been director of
the program since its inception.
