Seven Counties Seeking New Members for
Board of Directors
Seven Counties Services, Inc. is
seeking new members for its Board of Directors. Seven Counties,
a private, non-profit corporation, is the state-designated regional
behavioral health center for Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson, Oldham,
Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble counties of Kentucky. Seven Counties
is looking to attract community-minded individuals who wish to offer
their time and efforts in pursuit of the agency's mission to build
healthy communities by helping individuals and families who are
affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, addictions
and abuse realize their potential.
Seven Counties is nationally recognized
for its innovative and effective programming and fully accredited
by the Joint Commission. The organization is the largest non-profit,
non-hospital organization and 25th largest employer in the Louisville
metro area. More than 1,400 clinical and administrative staff members
and 400 volunteers create and deliver quality services to approximately
30,000 persons each year.
Board applicants must reside in the
service region and must mirror the demographics of the region served.
At this time, the Board of Directors is particularly encouraging
individuals representing minority populations to apply.
All applications will be reviewed
by the board's Nominating Committee; some will be selected for a
30-minute interview. The Nominating Committee will make its recommendations
to the Board of Directors. Board members should be prepared to commit
at least eight hours per month to volunteer activities, including
attendance at monthly board and committee meetings and community
functions. Travel expenses are reimbursed. The Board of Directors
meets on the last Thursday of every month for approximately two
hours (3:00-5:00, at 11001 Bluegrass Parkway); members are also
expected to serve on at least two committees, most of which meet
for approximately 90 minutes a month. There are various functions
during the year that board members are expected to support/attend.
At this time, and for the foreseeable future, one of the board's
major goals is to increase advocacy efforts with local, state and
federal elected officials, as well as business and community leaders,
to encourage the adoption of laws, regulations, and policies that
effectively assist persons with behavioral health concerns in our
communities. There are a number of exciting opportunities ahead
for this organization and we are looking for dynamic, active community
leaders to help us achieve our goals.
Persons interested in serving their
community through this rewarding volunteer opportunity should contact
