Cyber-Bullying and Parenting
Headline Fall Conference
Critical Information for Parents, Caregivers, and the Community
Teaching parents and educators to
identify and eliminate cyber-bullying is one of three free trainings
to be offered as part of this year's Salt River Fall Conference,
sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Mental Health and Mental
Retardation and Seven Counties Services, Inc. This free, one day
conference is a great learning opportunity for parents, caregivers,
and community partners.
Cyber-bullying occurs when a child
is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or targeted
by another child using the Internet, mobile phone, or other type
of digital technology. It is emerging as one of the more challenging
issues facing educators and parents as young people embrace the
Internet and other new communication technologies. Dan Florell,
Ph. D., Professor at Eastern Kentucky University, will lead this
important session.
The Salt River Fall Conference takes
place Thursday, November 1st from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ath the
UK Cooperative Extension Office, 1117 Frankfort Road, Shelbyville,
KY.
Dr. Otto Kaak of the University of
Kentucky will speak on the challenges of parenthood, including such
topics as discipline, school phobia, aggession, ADHD and medication.
Motivational speaker Michael King will deliver a humor-filled, interactive
presentation on the diversity of our personalities.
