What are the different types of employees at Seven Counties? How do these types relate to Seven Counties’ benefit offerings? An employee who works on a sporadic basis or for a period of time not expected to exceed nine months will be classified as a temporary employee. Temporary employees receive no benefits other than those mandated by law, such as workers compensation.
A regular employee is not temporary.
Any employee regularly scheduled to work at least 20 hours and less than 32 hours per week is considered a regular part-time employee. In general, regular part-time employees will receive prorated vacation hours, prorated holiday hours, and prorated personal holiday hours. Any regular employee regularly scheduled to work fewer than 20 hours per week does not qualify for any benefits other than those mandated by law, such as workers compensation.
An employee regularly scheduled to work a minimum of 32 hours per week is considered a regular full-time employee. In general, regular full-time employees who work 32 hours per week or more are eligible to participate in Seven Counties' benefit programs.
All regular part-time and regular full-time employees averaging a minimum of 100 hours or more per month must participate in the Kentucky Employees Retirement System (KERS).
What benefits are offered to employees of Seven Counties? A wide array of benefits is available to regular full-time employees, including the following: medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability; an Employee Assistance Program (EAP); retirement plan(s); tuition assistance; vacation, sick leave, personal holidays, and paid holidays; overtime compensation, compensatory time; reimbursement for professional licensing fees; reimbursement for membership in selected professional organizations, and professional liability coverage.
When would I be eligible for benefits?
- Regular full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental insurance and vision insurance coverage on the first day of the month following 60 days of continuous employment
- Regular full-time employees are eligible for life insurance coverage after six months of continuous fulltime employment, and for short-term and long-term disability coverage following 12 months of continuous fulltime employment
- Regular full-time employees are eligible for paid vacation following six months of continuous employment
- Regular full-time employees are eligible for up to five paid sick leave days and up to three personal days per calendar year on a prorated basis based upon date of hire
- Regular full-time employees are eligible for holiday pay immediately upon hire
- Regular full-time employees are eligible for tuition assistance after 3 months of employment and must have a “meets expectations” competency assessment. Tuition assistance will be considered for up to 6 credit hours per term at 50% of the tuition rate, never to exceed 50% of the University of Louisville resident tuition rate. Tuition assistance also depends on the grade(s) the employee earns
- Employees may be eligible for reimbursement of professional licensing fees and membership fees in selected professional organizations
- Employees are provided with professional liability coverage from the day of hire
How often are employees paid? Do you offer direct deposit? SCS employees are paid every two weeks, on alternating Fridays. Direct deposit of paychecks, in any federally-recognized financial institution, is mandatory. In addition, employees may elect to join the Louisville Medical Federal Credit Union and take advantage of its full array of services.
What opportunities exist for Seven Counties employees to realize their potential? Seven Counties is committed to helping its employees reach their fullest potential. Toward that end, employees participate in our “e-map” (Employees Measuring Achievements and Performance) process and work closely with their supervisors to develop career goals and steps to meet those goals. In addition, training opportunities are available through the Seven Counties' Training Institute. What would my work hours be if I joined Seven Counties? Generally, work hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, supervisors establish working hours at each site based upon client and business need, while attempting to afford as much flexibility as possible.
Does Seven Counties provide clinical supervision required by state licensing boards? Yes. Seven Counties provides supervision required to obtain or maintain professional licenses and certifications required by law to practice in Kentucky, e.g., Licensed Psychological Associate and Certified Social Worker. In addition, Seven Counties may provide supervision required to obtain other certifications recognized in Kentucky, such as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Certified Professional Counselor.

Central State Hospital: a community partner
One of our community partners is Central State Hospital, with which we have an employment agreement to assist with staffing. Central State Hospital is an acute care, 192-bed psychiatric hospital. It employs more than 450 individuals who serve more than 1,100 persons annually. Of those 450 hospital staff members, approximately 300 are SCS employees. |
